Science tells us stress is at the root of 90% of illnesses.

Stress

Stress is a silent killer in humans, and these deadly effects are being discovered in our dogs. My therapeutic canine massage techniques are designed to reduce the impact of cumulative stress on your dog's body. We all want our dogs to live long, healthy lives, and massage is a vital tool in overall wellness.

Why I Massage Dogs

My passion came about because of my dog, Hero. He was diagnosed with Cushing's Disease when he was eight years old. My veterinarian shared that Cushing's Disease is partly a stress disease, and I could not understand how a dog could be stressed. So, I began to learn about stress in dogs. I soon learned all the chemical, neurological and physical effects of stress on dogs (and humans). I also learned that stress is cumulative in the body - and needs to be released. I believe massage is one of the best ways to release stress in the body.

I also began researching and learning everything I could to help him. I took nutrition, aging, massage, aquatics, and behavior courses. Through excellent veterinary care and the changes we made in our lifestyles - he went from being on the highest dosages of medicines to the lowest. He also exceeded his life expectancy by three or four years. I hope and desire that we (me, you, and your veterinary care team) can help your dog, too, through our efforts.

When possible, I host a fundraiser for Cushing's Disease Research in Dogs in Hero's Memory. Please let me know if you'd like to help raise awareness and fundraise for this cause!

Thankful Paws is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
